NZICC MyEvent
Bringing sales proposals into the 21st century.
The challenge
Opening late 2019, the NZICC will be New Zealand's first truly world-class convention centre. While the sales team are busy promoting the building, securing event bookings for a venue that doesn't yet exist was proving quite a challenge.
The industry standard to attain bookings is to provide prospective clients - Primary Convention Organisers (PCOs) and corporate event managers - with a PDF proposal. These PDFs are generally template-based and of poor to average design quality.
We were asked to create a web-based interactive sales proposal tool for the NZICC team. To reflect the world-class venue, the tool needed to be something totally new for the industry, speed up the preparation process and improve data accuracy. Behind the scenes it also needed to pull event data from NZICC's existing event software.
Approach
Before hitting the tools we spent time exploring the nature and content of these traditional PDF proposals, including just how and where they fit into the NZICC's sales process.
Paper-based and then interactive wireframes were produced to explore the UX, in which we explored different modes of interaction. For our solution we landed on a single-page, scrolling, component driven UX, giving the NZICC a more efficient and flexible way to create proposals.
The resulting sales proposal tool is an industry first and a huge improvement on the traditional PDF route, conveying a large amount of info in a user-friendly way and reducing proposal preparation time by 70-80%. It has helped to put New Zealand at the forefront of global convention booking.
